Lois Sherman brings to Sherman & Co. expertise in the private, government, and nonprofit sectors. She provides publishing and computer services to the firm. Formerly the publications and web site manager at the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University, she has also held positions with the U.S. Foreign Service, the New Mexico state government, a national scientific laboratory, and a computer book publishing firm. She has written and published numerous articles as a staff writer and freelancer. Many of these had as their subjects prominent artists and scientists and were distributed worldwide by American embassies. She co-authored a computer operating system book for Macmillan Publishing. She received a Bachelor's Degree from LeMoyne (now Lemoyne-Owen) College in Memphis, did graduate work in International Relations at George Washington University, and received a Master's Degree in Management from the University of New Mexico. In 2005, she earned a certificate in Web Development from the Purdue University School of Engineering and Technology. Lois served as a Foreign Service Officer in Washington, D.C. and overseas in Accra, Ghana and Kinshasa, Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo). She has lived in Indianapolis since 1985. She served for several years on the board of directors of Freetown Village, a living-history museum that celebrates African-American life in Indianapolis in the 1870s. For Sherman & Co., she edited the newsletter for Wealth & Planning Management, LLP, and managed web sites for WP&M and for "The Voyages of Pachamama," an online diary of a couple's adventures sailing around the world.
